FAQs

Yes. Under CPCB guidelines, tyre producers, importers, and brand owners must register for EPR authorization to ensure proper collection, recycling, and end-of-life disposal of tyres placed in the Indian market.

Producers must register on the CPCB EPR portal (or specific portal once notified) by submitting business details, tyre categories (new, retreaded, imported), quantity sold, and necessary documents like GST, PAN, and agreements with recyclers.

Tyre producers are required to collect and recycle or recover a percentage of tyres sold in the past years. Targets are defined by CPCB and include material recovery, co-processing in cement kilns, or pyrolysis.

Recyclers use processes like crumb rubber production, devulcanization, pyrolysis, or co-processing in cement plants to recover materials or energy. Producers must work with authorized recyclers and maintain records for compliance.

Non-compliance with Tyre EPR norms can lead to:

  • Environmental compensation fines
  • Suspension or cancellation of registration
  • Legal action under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986
