FAQs

To apply for Battery Waste EPR registration, visit the official CPCB Battery EPR portal (eprbatterycpcb.in), create a user profile as a Producer or Recycler, and upload required documents like GST, PAN, battery product details, and past sales data.

A Battery EPR certificate is proof that a specified quantity of waste batteries has been collected and processed. It is issued by CPCB-registered recyclers after recycling and can be transferred to Producers to fulfill their EPR obligations.

CPCB guidelines mandate that registered recyclers must ensure environmentally sound recycling and recovery of materials like lead, lithium, cobalt, etc. Producers are required to meet annual recycling targets and report them through the Battery EPR portal.

 The EPR process includes:

  1. Collection of used batteries from consumers
  2. Transportation to authorized facilities
  3. Recycling and material recovery
  4. Issuance of Battery EPR certificates to Producers for compliance reporting

The annual return filing due date under Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 is 30th June every year for the previous financial year. Filing must be done through the CPCB Battery EPR portal. However, it’s been extended to 30th September for the Year 2024-25
